Our History

Our market was established in Spring 2004 and has grown to become a vibrant and successful Village Market for the local community. In recent times we moved the location of the market to the Age Concern car park off Dale Avenue. When you come to the market, do take the opportunity to visit the Age Concern café, the wonderful Repair Café, where you can have items repaired and spared from landfill, and the Community Garden. Combined, all these things make for a really lovely village hub once a month!

Our stallholders are based in Sussex, with the majority based within a 25 mile radius of Hassocks. They are always happy to talk about their rearing or production methods. 

Our priority is to have producers that use methods that support the local environment, high standards of animal welfare and use local products themselves. 

We welcome applications from local farmers and producers who would like to trade at the Market. We have spaces for seasonal products that may only attend a few markets and pitches for producers who wish to attend through the year. Please note we do not always have a spare pitch available. We prioritise primary producers, products not currently represented at the Market or secondary producers with a high percentage of locally grown ingredients.
